Trouble connecting to Teamspeak

Post by Jim »

Hi folks,

For two weeks (and two updates (might be pertinent - although for a week before the first update i was losing connection and dropping off TS fairly frequently)) I have been unable to connect to any servers on teamspeak. This is the 'warning' I'm getting displayed in the Client Log when trying to connect to zeus community:

I've done a bit of poking around on my router and reinstalled TS and checked spelling of zeus-community etc all to no avail.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful and promise never to hotmic on global ever again!

Cheers

Have you tried connecting by direct IP?

EDIT: And is there any more to the log? (All tick boxes checked?)
Google brings up a few different things, have you bought (or installed new drivers) a new headset/mic since?

am assuming this must be an issue on your end, seeing as you are the only one I know of with any issue
So try direct IP connection
Also ping, traceroute and pathping to that IP address
Has your router, ISP changed recently
Have you tried accessing something you shouldn't and being blacklisted automatically ?

Turned off Avast - still no connection.

@Terox As far as I know everything I usually access is still available.

I tried https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/speedtest

my download speed is
7.2Mb
my upload speed is
0.8Mb

which is appalling, I know - Do you think could this be the problem?! I might be quicker posting 3.5" floppies in the post!

Thanks again

Yeah direct connect is the IP thing.
Are your ports all forwarded on router and the windows firewall set up to allow connections? (the Public Vs Private one)
And I'm guessing your using the mic from the webcam? Is it possible to test with a dedicated mike?

Port forwarding is for incoming connections, not outgoing.

Could you test connecting on a different device? Like a laptop or smartphone. So we can check if it's your computer that's faulty.

If you get the same error, try connecting over a VPN. Use hidemyass or hotspot shield with a free trial.

Okay didnt think that bit through properly lol
I've figured a REALLY rough work around through my ipad (which has no problems on the same wifi signal)
so I'ld say its not his network.

@Jim, in your TS options, what are your Playback Mode and Device and Capture Mode and Device set as?

Oops, didnt read that bit about the ipad.

Btw. when you reinstalled your TS3, did you delete this folder as well? C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\TS3Client.

And can you give us a little bit more information about your internet, like provider, router and type (DSL, Cable , etc...).

Is TS blocked in the windows firewall or another software is blocking the program? Might be worth disabling the windows firewall or any other AV.

You can connect to TS via your ipad on the same connection? It sounded like you could. If so, then the problem likely lies with your PC, assuming the ipad uses the same TS connection method and ports etc.

OK - so I have wrangled a work around which involves an old 20m CAT5 cable...

Looks like a wifi problem - but only for one instance of teamspeak on one computer connected to that 5G wifi...

SO - if you ever have something similar happen to you just ethernet cable it up!

HAHAA!

Last night I unplugged the ethernet cable so that no one would trip up on it in the night and this morning I just thought I'd try connecting to teamspeak on wifi (its become a some sort of sick habit) rather than becoming the cable guy again ..... and BOOM - straight in!
