Zeus Insurgency Radio

Post by MURRAY122 » Wed Mar 15, 2017 3:58 pm

A few updates ago I added a radio function to Zeus Insurgency.

It was restricted to 3 channels and players could only connect to any one channel and only use that one channel.
OPFOR players could not access it.

The reason I am making this post is because of two reasons.

1) Players were asking how to use it/ What it's for
2) I updated it to support more channels so to make a clear understanding of what each is for

The following changes have been made:

1) 10 Custom channels added
  • Channel 31) Emergency
    Channel 32) JTAC
    Channel 33) Air
    Channel 34) ALPHA Fireteam
    Channel 35) BRAVO Fireteam
    Channel 36) CHARLIE Fireteam
    Channel 37) DELTA Fireteam
    Channel 38) ECHO Fireteam
    Channel 39) CSAR Fireteam
2) UI updated to support editing channels instead of click buttons
3) The radio's required in inventory to allow radio use
4) Players can connect/disconnect to has many channels as they wish

So onto how to use it and what each is for:

Channel 31) Emergency
  • The Acting CO should always have this channel active
Players can use this channel to call in an emergency (Medic/squad lead down etc..)
Channel 32) JTAC
  • The Recon/Eagle and Hawk should always have this channel active
Recon can call in Fire mission for both Eagle and Hawk

Channel 33) Air
  • Support Pilots should always have this channel active
Pilots can use this channel to contact other pilots in the air

Channel 34) ALPHA Fireteam
Channel 35) BRAVO Fireteam
Channel 36) CHARLIE Fireteam
Channel 37) DELTA Fireteam
Channel 38) ECHO Fireteam
  • All Fire team members should join there squads fire team channel
The purpose of this is to reduce your squad leaders comms.

    So an example -
Fire team members report to Team leader (Fireteam channel)
Team leader reports to squad leader (Group channel)
Squad leader reports to CO (Command channel)
Channel 39) CSAR Fireteam
  • CSAR Players should always have this channel active
Players can contact CSAR in the event of medical assistance
CSAR can also hope into the Squads Fire team Channel to work with that squad when on site

HOW TO USE:
1) Each player has access to the radio if they have the radio in their inventory. Use scroll wheel and click on radio

2)Enter the channel by typing the number you wish to connect/Disconnect from in the black box

3) Click "ENT" to connect to a channel or Click "CLR" to disconnect from a channel

4) Using normal keys to switch channels in game. You can select the channel you wish to communicate in

This update is not live on the server 1 yet as I am tweaking other scripts first. But should be up today (15/03/17) or tomorrow (16/03/17)

Nice feature, but could be difficult for casual players to understand.

Can you preset channels a certain player should be in. Like the emergency for command for example.

I thought of this.
but...
In the past. despite throwing messages into players faces to show information etc.... it seems there is only about a 1% chance they will read it
So seems pointless for me to waste my time and go to the extent of making it unique to a players role

The information will, of course, be in the briefing tab and Group/Side/Command channel is still all there so players can still get a hold of JIP's or new players.
