Re: Zeus Advanced Training Enrolment - Mechanised Unit Training
Out of all the current and planned advanced training sessions, this is one of the ones I believe to potentially be the the most beneficial (the other being pilot training). Similar to the pilot training, I'm particularly interested in seeing how it develops.

One thing I'm missing in all these posts is what is being taught...
Mechanised unit training is so vague. Is it for driving, gunning, commanding? or more for the units in the back?

Agreed... some more details would be appreciated for these training sessions, and if we're trying - as with ZFMT - to create a standardization for everyone across Zeus to increase effectiveness and establish SOPs, then can we at least have these SOPs released in a readable format for those of us that aren't able to attend training due to time constraints?Tom wrote:One thing I'm missing in all these posts is what is being taught...

Making the world a better place, by shooting people in the face.

Duly noted - I'll see if I can produce some kind of additional to the FMT player handbook
It is also asked of every member that completes any of the advanced sessions that they pass on infantry skills by word of mouth as well - although I appreciate that not everyone is available for training on a weekend

Looking forwards to the first running of this -- let's see if I'm in time to nab one of the first 10 places this time around!

Can you please make rule number 1:
DON'T PUT APCs F*CKING HILLS
A lesson to this day that still hasn't been learnt

If you hide the APC behind the hill and only expose it very briefly to engage known enemy positions, and change the place you expose it now and then to make it harder for the enemy to predict where it will expose itself next, then it should in theory be fine should it not? im pulling this out of my ass by the way so please tell me if I am wrong and why if possible.Tipsi wrote:Can you please make rule number 1:

Correct but most people don't do that. A good tactic I find, as a vehicle commander, is to halt the vehicle in defilade, disembark, move to the ridge line on foot while staying low and scout the surrounding area for targets and threats using binos.Martin wrote:If you hide the APC behind the hill and only expose it very briefly to engage known enemy positions, and change the place you expose it now and then to make it harder for the enemy to predict where it will expose itself next, then it should in theory be fine should it not? im pulling this out of my ass by the way so please tell me if I am wrong and why if possible.Tipsi wrote:Can you please make rule number 1:

Once you've identified a target of opportunity, give target information to gunner, return to vehicle, re-mount and move the vehicle to the ridge line to quickly pop shots at the target and then immediately reverse back into defilade. You can then repeat the process or re-locate.
