Website design
Can we talk about the gross missuse of space on the website? I personally don't want to have to scroll down all the time when i need to get something done on here. Not that i do much in the first place but i thought other people than me might appreciate, i've also taken the liberty of identifying two areas that are as yet, unused in the current design.

Hey Kenny,
How bout you go make us something to put in those area's that fits with our theme rather than complain about things, doing nothing about said things, then continuing to moan about said things...

Re: Website design
I guess it wasn't clear to you Ashley, so i made this to visualise what i meant.
Just because i don't know how to code from this template and change it doesn't mean i can't have an opinion on how it should look.
If you would spend the time to teach me the basics of how the template is knocked together i'd be more than happy to help. I was under the impression that you wouldn't want a lowly grunt like me to meddle in your code though...

Re: Website design
All I get about the forum is people complaining, so by all means, make something for me to put on it. Scrolling once doesn't really bother me so I have never looked at the possibility of sidebars.

You couldn't script your way out of a cardboard box.

Re: Website design
We can't really win here can we, Ashley. One minute you tell us to make something for you to put on it, then you're telling me I'm being, 'Too Helpful.' On the contrary, I believe there is never such as thing as 'Too Helpful.' I am merely trying to help to improve the community.ashley wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2017 12:09 pmThis is already being worked on thank you, somethimes there is such a thing as 'Too Helpful'Wolfy_ wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2017 11:37 am

If you read the admin meeting minutes you'll see this is already being worked on, so yes, you can win, by paying attention.Wolfy_ wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2017 12:15 pmWe can't really win here can we, Ashley. Re: Website design
Firstly, as you can see below there are no action points written on the notes suggesting that the calendar is being worked on - I only knew it was discussed and was not present in the meeting.
Secondly, and most importantly, I was trying to help Ben. I had no intention of stepping on your toes and if you felt I was, then I am sorry.6. Calendar in forums

Nevertheless, I am glad to see a calendar is being worked on! I'm excited to see what you come up with Ashley Thank you, and best of luck!

That doesn't inform you that the calendar is being discussed?6. Calendar in forums

Again, I knew it was discussed - but not if and what action had been taken forward.ashley wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2017 12:23 pmWolfy_ wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2017 12:20 pmFirstly, as you can see below there are no action points written on the notes suggesting that the calendar is being worked on - I only knew it was discussed and was not present in the meeting.6. I don't wish to bicker about this, you are aware of my thoughts on the matter. I was trying to help.

Re: Website design
OK.... moving on... or I will bump the thread.
The layout of the forum is fairly rigid given the theme we are using. It was fairly quick and easy to edit the styles (CSS etc) but when you want to start modifying layouts of a template system you really need to start digging into PHP and customising an already custom template which itself uses parts of another custom template. Think can of worms. Would definitely take too long to explain to someone wishing to help customise but I appreciate the offer all the same.
Another point.. the announcement bit / important news bit / the big pink section at the top is there for a reason. i.e. important news. I would not want this pushed off to the side. If people are just scrolling past the IMPORTANT news section to get to other content.. well.. that's on them. All we can do is place emphasis on what we consider important info via size, positioning and colour. Also, please consider how that section being pushed off to the side would work in a responsive design. i.e. where it would sit on a mobile / tablet device view.
I think the solution we have now is a fairly good one, not saying it's perfect but it fits our needs.
With regards to the calendars, yes, we are looking into a few options for an integrated one (forum extension) but also at other possibilities such as the doodle one we've recently been trialing. No 'final' choice has been made as it is up for review at the next admin meeting. I think that we also have a few different options now thanks to some posts in the thread.
